Gol tunggal kemenangan Southampton dicetak oleh Che Adams pada menit ke-16 memanfaatkan blunder yang dilakukan Ederson dan Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Kekalahan ini terasa aneh karena tiga hari sebelumnya City baru saja menghajar tim jawara musim ini, Liverpool empat gol tanpa balas.
